Ashcroft Foundation provides schools with libraries
First it was computers for the high schools, now it’s libraries for the primary schools. Today the Michael Ashcroft Foundation officially opened three libraries, one at the Indian Creek Primary School in Toledo, one at Independence Primary School and the other at Christ the King Anglican School in Dangriga, as part of their Library/Literacy Programme for Belizean children. The Belize Teachers’ Training College is a partner in the project. The first phase will provide libraries to ten schools and five to ten more will be included in the second phase. Under the last Ashcroft Foundation venture, the Information Technology Teaching Programme, thirteen high schools were equipped with computers. To date the foundation has contributed over one point seventy-five million dollars to schools and charities in Belize. News Five will have more on this story in tomorrow’s newscast.
