Dance Company goes on tour with Budd Bank Wedding
The Belize Arts Council invites you to see Budd Bank Wedding… the Dance, which goes on tour later this week. The performers include the Belize National Dance Company, the Vista Dance Group and the Ugundani Dancers. News Five was invited to a special preview on Sunday Night.
Budd Bank Wedding… the dance required a lot of background work from Dance Coordinator Gregory Vernon.
Gregory Vernon, Dance Coordinator
“It was my dream to do Budd Bank Wedding. What I needed to do was do the research, Garifuna and Creole weddings. The courtship, the wedding, the reception, what has been done. Using that research I created Budd Bank …Wedding …The Dance.”
The tour which takes the performers to Punta Gorda, Dangriga and Belmopan is dedicated to Robert “Bob” Reneau, the choreographer of such wonderful performances as “Boledo Nightmare” and the original “Budd Bank Wedding”. The Ugundani Dance Group is accompanying the Belize National Dance Company.
Greg Vernon says the audience can expect a nice package that also includes modern dances.

“Yes, everything is totally together as I would like it. I am very comfortable. We have a few nick and nacks to get out of it but I am satisfied with the dancers, the effort they have put into it.”
For ticket information contact the Belize Arts Council. The show will be in Punta Gorda on November sixth and then heads for Dangriga, Belmopan and Belize City.
