Trick or treaters get helpful advice

Whether you’re planning to go to the concert, just stay home or pull out a bag of tricks — if there are no treats, — don’t let the feeling of the Halloween weekend take your common sense away. Extra police personnel, the Dragon Unit and traffic officers will be patrolling Belize City and they have a few pointers to keep you safe. Parents, before your little ones go out the door, remember there are real monsters out there.

“The curfew is still working. Just because it’s Halloween it does not mean curfew is being eliminated. What trick or treaters need to realize is that you need to go out with a responsible adult. We can’t have groups of just thirteen kids running around without any kind of adult supervision.

Go to people you know. Call in advance. Say, “We’re going to be bringing thirty people to your house.” Find your route, set your route with people you know, your neighbors, your close friends family and go trick or treating there, so you’re not knocking on any adult’s door.”

The Police and Traffic Departments are asking pedestrians to carry flashlights, especially if you are wearing all black, so that drivers can see you. Any child found without an adult after eight will be taken back home or to the Human Development Office where the parents can pick them up.
