Toyota Yaris hits Belize’s streets
Today a new set of wheels was introduced to Belize and the rest of the Caribbean as Toyota dealerships in the region presented the Toyota Yaris. Belize’s Toyota dealer, Pie Marin, is expecting the Yaris to receive rave reviews and starting today, is offering free test-drives to interested Belizeans. News Five’s Janelle Chanona jumped in for a quick spin around the city. Don’t worry… the car’s fully insured.

“It’s the first time we can say to the public, we have a good product at a good price whereby we’re getting a lot of features. In this car: automatic transmission, power windows, an engine that gives you forty-three miles per gallon, air conditioning, cassette, digital clock. And if you notice, drivers in this car, the visibility looking outside is very easy, to see everything outside the road. You’re sitting above, you have a good view of the road and it makes it a very, very safe car to drive.”
Safety is a first priority when buying a new car but a close second is the availability of parts and maintenance. Marin says they will do what they can to make sure that customers won’t have to worry about those problems in the Yaris.

“Our main focus is not only to sell the product to the client but to give them a good after sale service. One could never have a perfect after sale service and you always have to be improving and that’s our motto.”
Q: “Belize is not really a car market, how easy or how difficult will it be to market this car?”
Israel “Pie” Marin
“What we see happening in Belize, the amount of paved roads coming on line will eventually create a car market and hopefully Government will look into reducing the rates of duties on cars.”
Janelle Chanona for News Five.
A fully loaded Toyota Yaris has a thirty-nine thousand dollar price tag, which includes import duty and sales tax. Marin says financing is available from any local bank. This Saturday, October thirtieth, is Yaris Day at the Belize Diesel and Equipment Company Limited compound. The day will include test drives, showroom displays, free give-a-ways, snacks and drinks.
