Evan X Hyde chairs U.C.B. Council
The publisher of the Amandala newspaper, Evan X Hyde has been elected Chairman of the University College of Belize Council. Hyde replaces Carlos Castillo, former Dean of the Corozal Community College, and will serve for three years. Randolph Johnson was re-elected Vice Chairman and U.C.B. President Angel Cal is secretary. The U.C.B. Council is the school’s major policymaking body and has thirteen members. They represent various tertiary level institutions: the Ministry of Education, Bar Association, Trade Union Congress, Chamber of Commerce as well as the University of the West Indies Extra Mural Department. Evan X Hyde will also represent the Belize School of Agriculture on the Council. Besides publishing the Amandala, Hyde is the Chairman of the Board and major shareholder of KREM Radio, and a member of the UBAD educational foundation.
