Training school graduates police officers
Despite the many challenges facing the Police Department, young men and women continue to choose law enforcement careers. On Friday fifty-one recruits from squad seventy-one graduated from the Police Training Academy. During ceremonies in Belmopan the best all around student Antonio Gomez was given the Baton of Honor. Guido Marin and Mark August came in first and second on the written exam and the commandants prize went to Alejandro Romero. Antonio Gomez and Dwayne Sutherland got top prizes in shooting and the most consistent overall performance went to Dwayne Sutherland. Minister of National Security Jorge Espat urged the new officers to adhere to the department’s principles and philosophy and to serve the public with courtesy and efficiency.
