Path lab employee robbed again

She was robbed several months ago on her way to the bank which is why her co-workers got her a taxi today, but the precaution didn’t prevent a thief from getting away with all their pay anyway. Around ten thirty this morning, an assistant from the Belize Pathology Lab on Eve Street was held up at gunpoint as she was making her way up the stairs of the building. Twenty-two year old Carla O’Brien was carrying just over three thousand dollars in cash… money from the checks she had just cashed for other employees. Patients waiting in the lobby told Path Lab employees they saw a slimly built dark complexioned man wearing a baby blue T-shirt come into the lobby, look around and go downstairs. He encountered O’Brien halfway up the stairs. She told police the man put an object she believed to be a gun to her neck and demanded money so she gave him the pouch with the cash. Several employees chased the man as he rode away on a bicycle and he was last seen on Handyside Street. This is not the first time O’Brien has been robbed. Several months ago she had seven thousand dollars stolen when she went to make a bank deposit for the lab. The police are questioning O’Brien about today’s incident but Police Press Officer Christy Castillo says it is unlikely she will be spending the night in jail. Castillo says they are investigating several leads. Management for the Pathology Lab says security will be increased. Employees say it is uncertain, however, if the stolen money will be reimbursed.
