Handicraft Open House

Another cruise ship arrived in Belize City today and while tourists will stop in at the Tourist Village, many will also appreciate the arts and crafts on display at the National Handicraft Center. But while the center welcomes visitors from abroad, they would also like to encourage more Belizeans to appreciate the work of local artists. An Open House is being held on Saturday October sixteenth. Emelda Usher, Manager for the National Handicraft Center says the reaction from the artisans has been positive.

“We have been a part of promoting “Buy Belizean” also and what we have here, everything in the store is made here locally throughout the country. We have decided to do a display, sort of inviting the artisans to come and display their products so that Belizeans could really appreciate what the artisans do here in Belize.”
All items will be sold at wholesale prices. The event will feature at least twenty Belizean artists from around the country and is on from nine thirty a.m. to five p.m. at the National Handicraft Center compound on Fort Street.
