Commission of Inquiry Set to Resume in Mid-August

The commission of inquiry into the sale of public assets under the previous government ended abruptly in mid-April when N.T.U.C.B. President Luke Martinez castigated the Briceño administration during a televised broadcast from the House of Culture here in Belize City.  The hearings were adjourned indefinitely after the live feed was cut.  Prior to that session, several witnesses had been called before the three-member panel which includes Martinez.  In a recent interview with Chairman Andrew Marshalleck, News Five sought to find out when the inquiry would resume.

“As chairman of the Commission of Inquiry, where are we with a resumption date?  Where are we with that process?  We ended abruptly several months ago and we would like to find out if that has fallen by the wayside altogether or if a new date has been set for the Commission of Inquiry to resume.”

“We’ve fixed the sixteenth of August for the hearing, so that’s already been fixed.  Everybody has agreed and the paperwork is being done to facilitate having another hearing on the sixteenth.”
