Concert organized to promote local artists
There is no shortage of avenues for local artists to showcase their talent… and on Sunday, members of a southside community have created a musical competition that will do just that. The event is entitled the ABS Sting and will see artists convene at the basketball court on Iguana Street Extension to provide an evening of excitement and talent. Promoter and Organizer, Carton Humes filled us in on the details.

“We’re just promoting most of the local artists in Belize. It wah be ABS Sting pan 3815 Iguana Street pan di basketball court just basically fi support the local artists. Ih wah be a fun event. We want everybody come out. I think its time that the Belizean public support its own.
It’s just basically every local artist eena Belize. Yoh got Program, Geo, Demus, Positive Vibes, Dan Master. Everybody wah deh out deh, we just wah di bring it cause at the end ah di day ih still wah be wah battle soh everybody wah deh out deh fi just basically bring it. And at the same time we want entertain the Belizean public too right.”

“So hip hop, rap, R & B, dancehall, what?”

“Well most ah di Belizean people know di type ah music weh di artist deh sing. So ih wah be both positive reggae, just basically dat. Deh wah sing deh own hit song weh they have out deh.”

“I just come fi big up the show weh di happen Sunday and invite everybody fi come out. Twelve artists or more will be out to compete eena battle, yoh know. Soh we just want invite everybody out deh fi come and have a nice time. Positive thing, yoh know, soh come out and be a part of it and enjoy yourself.”
