Two youths charged with rape
A young girl who took a chance and broke the curfew to purchase some items for her mother on Saturday night has reported being raped by two youths. The thirteen year old girl told police she was on her way home from a shop around eight thirty p.m. when nineteen year old Gary Yearwood and a fifteen year old boy approached her on Racecourse Street. She says they forced her onto one of their bicycles and took her behind a bar on Albert Street and raped her. Police have charged Yearwood and the youth with the crime. Last week the members of the curfew patrol unit commented in a story on News Five that many of the children they pick up and return home are out on the streets at night because their parents have sent them to do errands. The curfew, which was established in April to protect children from growing street violence, is on from eight p.m. every night, including weekends.
