Fonseca: “CEOs are subject to the ten percent salary cut”
The salaries for Chief Executive Officers under the Briceño administration remain untouched, despite a reduction in monthly income for government ministers. The wages for teachers and public officers have also been reduced by ten percent for the next three years. C.E.O.s, on the other hand, continues to enjoy their full salaries, despite government’s so-called financial crunch. Education Minister Francis Fonseca maintains that C.E.O.s are not above getting a salary cut.
Francis Fonseca, Minister of Education
“My understanding was, and my understanding remains that CEOs are subject to the ten percent salary cut. As the Deputy Prime Minister rightly said, we will have a discussion about it at the next cabinet meeting. We will, I am sure, be provided with an explanation as to why there was a change in the position and once we have been provided with that explanation we can have a proper discussion on it and, I think, make the right decision.”
