Upgrades to protect environment coming from BSI/ASR
In the off season, B.S.I/A.S.R. says they will be making a twenty million dollars investment to improve facilities. These upgrades will include the water treatment plant to improve the quality of discharge that goes into the New River. Director of Finance at the company Shawn Chavarria spoke on this.

“We are just in the final stages of completing another major environmental project at the mill, which is to improve our water treatment system to reduce the temperature that we are discharging into the new river. That project is going to be commissioned in August. So we are winding down that project. And, our next big project is the replacement of the electrostatic precipitators. These esps, as we call them, is our air emission control system which removed the ash from the boilers before it is discharged into the stack and into the atmosphere.”
