Belize to Now Require ALL Visitors to Present Negative COVID Tests
Earlier this week, one of the concerns among tour operators over the new COVID requirements was that only unvaccinated persons entering Belize were required to provide a negative COVID test result. Well, there is an update on that tonight. The Belize Tourism Board announced this afternoon that effective August ninth, all travelers – meaning vaccinated and unvaccinated people – entering Belize at the Philip Goldson International Airport from other countries will be required to present a negative COVID-19 test result. The release states that the negative COVID-19 PCR test should be taken within ninety-six hours of travel or a negative result from any approved Antigen Rapid Test taken within forty-eight hours of travel. B.T.B. says that if no test is presented, a COVID test will be administered at the airport for a fee of fifty U.S. dollars to the passenger. Another new requirement is that children five years and older will also be required to present a negative test result. Passengers entering through the border points will also be administered a Rapid COVID test at their own expense.
