Variety of Services Now Available for Young People
Minister Bernard says an assessment survey is providing the Youth Department with much-needed information about the types of services young Belizeans need most.
Kevin Bernard, Minister of Youth, Sports and E-Governance
“One of the things that we are doing and that is the reason why the Department had engaged with the youth needs assessment survey. And, it is very critical because through that, by going out, we see what young people are saying they need opportunities with. I think, this proves to us that there are young people who want a little support to do their little business. But, there are other areas. You have young people seeking guidance in counseling. You have young people who want opportunity to develop a business plan. This is what the Department of Youth Services is talking about. These are the opportunities we want to bring, whether it is in art or entertainment, whether it is in developing business plans, whether it is in developing skills on a job, some technical skills or a trade. These are the kind of things that the Department of Youth Services wants to offer and engage in.”
D.Y.S. now offers an electronic form that can help match young people to services. Click the link on their Facebook page at Department of Youth Services to find an area of interest. You can also call 227-2616 for more information.
