Victim Recovering from Shot to the Head
There were several shootings reported over the weekend; one in Belize City and the other in the Forest Home community in Toledo. The most recent occurred just after midday on Sunday in Fullers Alley. Francis Parham, who is wheelchair-bound, was sitting on a veranda when two men on bicycles rode up and fired several shots. One opened fire on Steven Parham, who escaped the bullets, but one of the shots caught Francis on the back of his head.
Supt. Alejandro Cowo, O.C., C.I.B., Eastern Division
“He observed a male person on a bicycle coming towards his direction and also there was another person standing in the yard and this person that approached them on the bicycle fired several shots at them injuring Mister Parham to his body. Mister Parham is presently admitted in a stable condition at the hospital. So far police are looking for one person that they believe can assist in this investigation.”

“What seems to be the motive behind this particular shooting? We know that the Parhams that live on Currasow Street have a history of run-ins with the law. Does this particular Mister Parham reside on Currasow or does he reside in Fullers Alley and what can you share about the motive?”
Supt. Alejandro Cowo
“The person in question that was injured, I know that he traverses the Currasow Street and likewise Fullers Alley. He had been a victim previously where I believe he was shot three or four years ago somewhere on the George Price Highway. And the situation with the Parhams is that due to, I believe, previous misunderstanding with other persons that might have led to this shooting as we believe that the person that was injured was not the target but another person that was in the yard.”
The Belize Police Department is monitoring the situation and police presence is highly visible in the area.
