Belizean gets medal in regional bodybuilding championships

Story Picture
Bodybuilder Dylan Jones is feeling very fit after competing with over eighty of the region’s best in the Central American and Caribbean Bodybuilding Championships in St. Maarten last weekend. Jones, who has dedicated himself to the sport for four years, placed fifth in the Masters category out of a field of fifteen. He says this is a real achievement considering that many of the entries have been weight training for twenty years or more.

Dylan Jones, Fifth Place, Masters

“The Central American and Caribbean Bodybuilding Championship held in St. Maarten was very special. This is a regional competition. It’s very, very difficult and you have to be in very, very good shape, condition wise to compete at this level. Getting a medal of any sort also makes me feel proud.

Well what I want to say to the nation at this point is that it’s not only me. I think this medal is won for the country of Belize. And I hope the young people can follow suit and just take it up, try to show good example. I hope the young folks can follow and make Belize proud also.”

Seventeen countries participated in the championships. “Mr. Belize” Rushel Bevans also went to St. Maarten and competed in the light/heavy division although he did not make it to the finals.
