Motorcycle Donated to Mahogany Precinct to Fight Crime

A corporate citizen, Vins Liquors Limited, came through today for the Belize Police Department when it donated a motorcycle to be used by the officers attached to the Mahogany Street Precinct. The Lifan dirt bike will be used by members of the Special Patrols Unit in an effort to combat criminal activity in the Saint Martin De Porres area of south side Belize City.

“It’s very important to have this mobile unit because sometimes a few seconds can be a matter between life and death. For us, we were struck pretty hard by COVID, but we had a good rebound and we are thankful for that. So we felt that since it was within our capabilities to make this donation to help the people who supported us during this time, we simply decided to make it.”

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

“While yes we have done a lot in terms of investing in human resources for this area as well as other resources and interventions and so, we still need to ensure that we maintain a mobile presence to move around and to check on the different bases within reasonable time as well as to respond to the complaints of the citizenry within this area. It comes in very handy at this time. As you know, we are still awaiting the procurement of our new fleet of vehicles. So until then, we are grateful for those who continue to assist the police in whatever way to ensure that we are able to maintain our mobility presence on the streets with a view to keep our city as save as we possibly can.”

ComPol Chester Williams says that the new fleet of vehicles is expected to be received by December of this year.
