Beka Lamb Re-released

Currently in Belize is Holly Edgell, the daughter of the late Zee Edgell, renown for her literary works such as Beka Lamb and Time and the River among others. Holly Edgell stopped in at News Five today to talk about the re-issuing of Beka Lamb as part of a Caribbean Classics series by Hodder and a contest that Belizean writers can enter.

“There’s also a contest that the publisher is running that will allow people from around the region to try their own luck at writing a short story and winning some money for that.”

“Okay, tell us a little bit about how it works – the competition part of it.”

“So, the competition period opened in March but you have until March of 2022 to enter the competition. Basically you submit your work of between two thousand to five thousand words and there’s a panel of judges and they will pick the winner and that winner will win one thousand British pounds and so that’s pretty exciting and the idea is to find new, fresh voices from around the region, so I think it will be wonderful if some Belize writers were to enter.”

The competition is open to people of any age.
