Family angered about autopsy
Meanwhile family members of the deceased are upset because they were not allowed to witness the autopsy. According to Carolyn Cadle, the family had been given permission by the medical examiner to view the procedure but was denied entry to the morgue by a C.I.B. officer. Cadle contends her rights have been violated.

“I believe my Constitutional rights are being violated. I spoke with Dr. Mario Estradabran and I told him I don’t care what is being done, I want a witness from my family in that room. He said if you or your father wants to do it I don’t have a problem. I said no, not my father, not me but somebody picked by me.
He told me that he had a problem with witnesses. He said that they would leave and spread information that may be incorrect. I told him that I respected that and knew that could be true but I know that the person that I had found will not do any such thing. And he said okay.
He had already given the young man a mask. Lino from C.I.B. decided that he would not have anyone in there. I said that if I had to go to court it will happen. He said that you will not be dictating to me. I said that is my son. That is my only son and I will do everything possible to get what I want.’

“I have seen cases where we have looked at bodies, we have known of different circumstances and the verdict that came from out there was nothing close.”
Estradabran says because of the mother’s persistence he agreed to the family’s request but because the case is under investigation, the C.I.B. officer at the morgue informed Inspector Mario Vernon, of the family’s arrival. Vernon says when the Constitution was reviewed no where in chapter seventy-one, the Coroner’s Act, does it state that a family has the right to witness an autopsy. By law the only time a family member should be guaranteed the right to view the body is when they are called to identify the corpse… and this must be done in the presence of a doctor and the police.
