Collet Maheia Sr. killed in traffic accident

Tragedy also struck two other families this weekend as two traffic accidents claimed the lives of a well known businessman and a sixteen year old girl. Around ten thirty p.m. on Saturday night Collet Maheia Senior, age sixty-nine was heading towards his home at mile three and three quarters on the Northern Highway when he was hit by a large truck. The driver fled the scene. Maheia died of serious head injuries at two a.m. on Sunday. The truck driver twenty-seven year old Eduardo Bardales turned himself into police that morning and was charged with manslaughter by negligence, failure to stop and render aid and other offenses.
