Fernando Cruz’s oil paintings on exhibit
A Belizean artist living in Manchester, England is exhibiting his work at his hometown of San Ignacio in the Cayo District this month. Fernando Cruz, who paints in oil, chooses as his subjects the animals and plants of Belize, and the rituals, including sacrifices, of the Mayas. Cruz, who was born in San Ignacio in 1968, painted murals and theatrical backdrops with his older brother and painted signs for local businesses before moving to England with his British wife. The show runs through the twenty-sixth of September at Novelo’s on Burns Avenue.
