British helicopter crashes in Chiquibul
Just before nine on the morning of September eleventh, a British Army Gazelle Helicopter went down in the Chiquibul Forest Reserve. According to the British Army Training Support Unit, BATSUB, the helicopter, carrying three soldiers and the pilot on a routine exercise support flight, crashed into the bank of the Macal River. The men were able to hike to the Chiquibul Road where they were airlifted to Price Barracks. No one was seriously injured. An inquiry team from the United Kingdom is in Belize to investigate the cause of the crash but have yet to publish their findings. The helicopter will be replaced by another aircraft from the U.K. BATSUB says their casualty evacuation service to Belizeans will continue uninterrupted.
