Central Bank Says Terms Reached with Former Governor

The Central Bank announced today it has “amicably resolved all issues” surrounding the employment of the former governor, Gustavo Manuel Vasquez. According to Prime Minister John Briceño, the board had been unable to work with him and had recommended letting him go after only four months. Today, via a press release, the PM said that the government had in his words, made every effort to align its policy objectives with those of the Central Bank under Mr. Vasquez’s tenure, but unfortunately, those policy differences remained.  The release continues that government expects that a new governor of the Central Bank of Belize will be named soon.
