Smart Seeking “Equal Opportunity to Compete for G.O.B. Business”
Smart Belize has weighed in on the controversy surrounding its successful bid for a government contract to provide licensing for Microsoft products to the Government of Belize. Today, the company issued a release responding to a Digi Interoffice memo that has been circulating on social media. Smart Belize says it wishes to state the facts as they transpired in the tender process. According to their release, Digi, Inova and Smart all presented bids. Smart says they met the full requirements for the supply during a meeting with CITO where the requirements for all the bidders were reviewed and discussed and they were not a late addition to the process. Smart says when comparing the three one-year proposals without GST, their bid was still lower than Digi by one hundred and forty-eight thousand dollars and by sixty-eight thousand dollars, allowing for value-added services. Smart says it, (Quote) “seeks a level playing field and an equal opportunity to fairly compete for G.O.B. business,” something they say is prescribed in the Telecoms Act.
