Police officer charged with attempted murder
A San Ignacio police officer has been charged with attempted murder for allegedly shooting at his superior. Around two a.m. on Sunday September twelfth, twenty-six year old Police Constable Denfield Augustine reportedly aimed a nine millimeter pistol at Corporal Lawrence Lopez through a window at the San Ignacio Police Station. He allegedly swore at the corporal and then fired a shot. Luckily for Lopez the shot missed. Another officer tried to seize the weapon but Augustine managed to escape. He was, however, later picked up at his home and arrested. On Monday September thirteenth he appeared in court where he was also charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. Augustine had recently been informed that he would be disciplined for being fifty minutes late for work.
