PM on B.T.L. and Smart

John Briceño

On the matter of the contract that Government has awarded to Smart, the Prime Minister said today that the Opposition has no moral grounds when it calls for the resignation of B.T.L. Chairman, Mark Lizarraga.

Prime Minister John Briceño

“I did not hear the Opposition then when they were in Government calling for the resignation of Net Vasquez when it was found out that Net Vasquez was abusing the credit card to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars. So, they have no moral standing to make those kinds of requests. But secondly, why are you going to go after the Chairman? What has he – has he done anything illegal? Absolutely not! What he has been doing with his team was trying to restructure the company and make it more responsive and more competitive. So there’s absolutely no reason why we want to ask for him to resign. I did not hear Patrick Faber screaming out when the then Prime Minister named his son to play with B.T.L., something that has cost this country tens of millions of dollars. And the story is going to come out. The story is going to come out and then you’re going to see people have a completely and totally different outlook about B.T.L.”
