Dean Barrow Comments on Faber and Shyne Barrow

Dean Barrow

Last night we brought you an interview with former Prime Minister, Dean Barrow, who spoke about the state of affairs within the U.D.P., the party he once led.  We also asked him if he sees the current party leader, his successor, Patrick Faber, as a fit leader to steer the party’s ship forward. While he refrained from commenting on Faber’s personal leadership skills, Barrow noted in this case, time will tell.

Dean Barrow, Former U.D.P. Party Leader

“In fairness to the Party leader, he has certainly been saying some of the right things, in that regard. I don’t know that he has been able to put meat on the bones, in a sense. But, I don’t know that he will ever be able to do that as long as the Party is as it is. So, he has a huge mountain to climb. It is going to be some tough sledding. But I hope that he has the wherewithal to preserve and to bring the Party together. And, if he doesn’t, then what will be inevitable is that ultimately there will be some kind of change in leadership. I am not saying I am urging that that happens. All I am saying is that the current leader has a chance, but time is a friend of no one, has a chance to put Humpty Dumpty back together again, and if he doesn’t, somebody else will step in.”

Paul Lopez

“Are you working behind the scenes to get your son, the current Area Representative for Mesopotamia, in that leadership seat?”

Dean Barrow

“Not at all, I will say now, my son is not at this moment an aspirant for leadership for the Party, and will not, based on my discussion with him, be an aspirant for the Party leadership during this five year period in opposition. So that is not on the cards at all.”
