Man killed over stolen bike

Story Picture
It wasn’t all revelry this weekend, but more like rivalry when William Garcia was killed over a stolen bicycle. Police say the incident may have been the result of a dispute between two gangs. On Sunday, September eleventh around twelve fifteen a.m., Garcia’s nephew Glenford Gillette was riding his bicycle by the corner of Mopan and Ebony Streets when it is alleged that the bike was forcibly taken away by members of the R.T.C. gang, an affiliate of the Crips. Gillette, who is alleged to be a member of the Yard Crew of Tigris Street, a group that associates with the Bloods, reportedly went back to his base and told the group about the incident. According to the police, the Yard Crew Gang, including Garcia allegedly went out and confronted the R.T.C. crew. Inspector Mario Vernon, Head of C.I.B. says a heated argument ensued then Garcia was shot.

Insp. Mario Vernon, Head of C.I.B.

“Those fellows, it is alleged, through a little bit of force, took that bicycle away from Gillette. Gillette, who had just left his group that call themselves the Yard Crew Bloods, that is on the Tigris Street area, he had just left his group on Central American Boulevard. They all were coming from that B.T.L. Park area and Civic area. So when he went back to them and said that had just happened, that crowd went over there and there was a bit of confrontation. The other members of that particular group at the corner of Ebony and Mopan Street, the other members they kicked him about on the street and they even road a bicycle over him. And we have sufficient evidence to connect the others with the gunman with the crime of murder.”

Today police arrested five men and charged them with murder. They are brothers Deon and Randolph Cadle, Leonardo Cassanova Junior, Alex Myers and Mark Price.
