Ammunition found in Red Creek
A police anti-crime operation has resulted in a major bust at a residence in the Cayo District. On September seventh, the police with a search warrant in hand, went to the home of Francisco Figueroa, a farmer of Red Creek Village in the New Pilgrimage Valley near Santa Elena, Cayo. Hidden under some rocks in the yard the police say they discovered a black plastic bag containing over three hundred rounds of assorted ammunition. This included one hundred and twenty-seven point forty-five caliber rounds, one hundred and sixty-five nine millimeter rounds and twenty-nine point thirty-eight rounds of ammunition. The police arrested everyone present including family members. They are Francisco Figueroa, Elsa Mejia of Red Creek, Elizabeth Figueroa of Las Flores Village, Elias Alcarenza of Las Flores, Hugo Ramirez Mejia of Yo Creek Village and two teenagers aged fifteen and fourteen. Police say Francisco Figueroa had been under surveillance for some time. Figueroa told police he does not know where the bag came from but that two months ago, a fourteen year old boy had discovered the bag inside a hole in the backyard.
In other police news, the police say security will be increased during the September Celebrations. Special attention will be given to children to ensure their safety.
