Anthony Zuniga wins storytelling contest
Belize’s best storytellers walked away with cash prizes last night at the George McKesey Storytelling Competition finals. Anthony Zuniga received a thousand dollars first prize. Rafael Martinez took second with five hundred dollars, and Kirk Yard came in third and claimed his prize of two hundred and fifty dollars. Forty-two storytellers participated in the competition and last night ten finalists told their stories at the Bliss Institute as part of the September Celebrations. Tonight it is the carnival bands’ turn to catch the spirit with Mas Camps on the northside of Belize City. On Wednesday night, the southside groups will have their camps. The Carnival Road March is this Saturday, September eleventh.
