Truck and Bowser for Rural Water Delivery
At a handing-over ceremony this morning, the Ministry of Rural Transformation received a truck and water bowser from the United Nations Development Programme and National Climate Change Office. The equipment will support the ministry’s efforts to provide continuous water to drought-affected communities or when rudimentary water systems fail. According to a release from the Ministry of Rural Transformation, they spend one hundred thousand dollars annually to purchase and deliver water to rural communities, so the donation should significantly reduce the government’s cost and improve delivery efficiency. The double axel truck and thirty-five thousand liter bowser were supplied by Belize Diesel and Equipment Limited at a cost of one hundred and seventy-eight thousand dollars.
