Two Weeks and Two Men Still Missing

Adam Menjivar

Fisherman Adam Menjivar has been missing for two weeks now and his loved ones fear the worst. Menjivar and Luis Carranza left Honduras a couple of weeks ago to return to Belize. However, when Menjivar’s family lost communication with him they grew concerned. A missing person report was made to the police in both Belize and Honduras and searches have been conducted with the help of the Belize Coast Guard. But to date, both men have yet to be found. Rudy Jimenez is now appealing to the fishing community for any information they might have on her brother’s whereabouts.

“My brother was at sea, he is a fisherman. We got a call from my sister-in-law saying that he was out and he was supposed to be coming back from Honduras. It’s two of them that went missing, my brother and the next person. They have a person in Honduras that they usually visit. The Friday, third of September, we received a call from my sister-in-law saying he has not been in communication with her, which is not like him. We made a report up at Placencia, Mango Creek Area, and since then us, along with the Belize Coast Guard did several searches. But, we have not received any solid evidence that he got lost at sea or anything. Last we, about the sixth of September, up in Placencia, we received false information that his body was recovered by Coast Guard. I went personally and did a search around Ranguana Caye down South where he was supposed to be. Up to today, we don’t have anybody, any news from him of his whereabouts or where he could be.”

If you or someone you know has any information that might aid in the search, please contact your nearest police station.
