Disaster workshop held in Stann Creek
In this the hurricane season, the Belize Red Cross and the United Nations Development Program, UNDP, continue their series of disaster preparedness workshops for villages. This time the workshops are in the Stann Creek District. Today forty-five village leaders from Silk Grass, Sittee, Hopkins and Maya Center met at the Silk Grass Community Center and tomorrow ninety-four more from eight villages in the northern portion of the district will gather at the Valley Community Center. The workshops are being facilitated by personnel from the National Headquarters and the Chairperson of the Stann Creek Red Cross Branch Estella Humphreys. So far five hundred people from the Corozal, Orange Walk and Belize Districts have attended training sessions on disaster preparedness.
