Body Found off St. George’s Caye Awaiting Identification

The decomposing body of a man was found floating in the sea between Saint George’s Caye and Coffee Caye, just off Belize City on Wednesday afternoon.  Head of the Criminal Investigations Branch for the Police Department’s Eastern Division, Superintendent Alejandro Cowo shared the information this afternoon police have so far.

“The body was retrieved and Police were able to observe that it had apparently had chop wound to the head and to the right hand.”

“And has it been identified as yet?”

“We have been able to speak to some persons where one of them had mentioned a name but we are waiting for family members to confirm if indeed that is the person.”
