Prisoner hangs himself in Belmopan

Police say a forty-six year old man hanged himself on Monday night at the Belmopan Police Station. Police say they found Justace Lemott, a Belizean from Ontario Village with his dread belt around his neck hanging from a window bar. According to police around nine thirty that night, prisoners who were in a cell next to Lemott alerted the police officer on duty. The officer went to Lemott’s cell to investigate and found the prisoner. The officer administered CPR but was unsuccessful. Lemott had been detained earlier that day pending charges of incest and rape. According to the police Lemott, who appeared to be troubled, admitted to them that he had a problem and was in need of psychological help. It was not the first time Lemott has been arrested for these offenses. Lemott admitted to prisoners that he was scared of going back to prison.
