Manatee Week activities begin with logo competition

Story Picture
How would you like to win a trip to see manatees in their natural habitat? Well, if you design the winning logo for the Belize Marine Mammal Stranding Network you and a friend could be on your way, and have your design on bumper stickers all over Belize. The Coastal Zone Management Authority and Institute, C.Z.M.A.I., is inviting the general public to submit original designs that illustrate the work of the network by October first in time for manatee week October fourth to eighth. Essay, poster, poetry and model design competitions are being carried out in the schools. This year primary school children will also have the chance to name five tagged manatees. Science teachers and school principals can provide the details of the various contests. Manatee Week will be held this year under the theme, “If you get to know us, you will love and protect us.”
