Shooting suspect shot by police
A suspect in a drive-by shooting was himself shot by police officers attempting to take him to the station. Twenty-one year old Marlon Budd, who has already appeared in Magistrate’s Court and was released on bail today, was wanted in connection with the shooting of a sixteen year old on Central American Boulevard around four a.m. on Sunday. The youth was grazed in the shoulder and suffered a gunshot wound to his jaw. Witnesses identified three suspects, Marlon and Calbert Budd and Kareem Theus and two hours later police intercepted them on a bus at the corner of Central American Boulevard and Vernon Streets. However, police report when they tried to take the three into custody for questioning, the men refused to accompany them. Marlon Budd is reported to have attacked one of the officers. According to police he and the other two then exited the bus. Another officer claims to have fired shots in the air, but says the three men continued to advance on the officers. A shot was fired which caught Marlon Budd in the toe of his right foot. Marlon and Calbert Budd were then taken into custody but Kareen Theus remains at large.
