Disaster workshop in Stann Creek District
With everyone on the lookout for hurricanes and tropical storms, it’s an appropriate time for the Red Cross and U.N.D.P. to continue their disaster preparedness workshops in the rural areas. On Saturday August twenty-eighth village leaders of southern Stann Creek District will attend a one-day session in Independence. So far five hundred village leaders in the Corozal, Orange Walk and Belize districts have attended workshops facilitated by Angelita MagaƱa. The Toledo and Cayo Districts will have their turn in the near future. The Red Cross and U.N.D.P. are sponsoring the program with the support of the National Emergency Management Organization to ensure information on disasters and their impact on individuals reach the rural communities.
