U.D.P. Says Briceño Administration Followed Its Super Bond Blueprint

On Friday, the Government of Belize announced that it had successfully negotiated with the majority of bondholders.  Despite the achievement of the Briceño administration, the opposition still maintains this follows a series of initiatives that were already set in motion by the U.D.P. government.  Here’s Opposition Leader Patrick Faber on the success of the Super Bond negotiation.

“I will praise the Briceño administration for following what the U.D.P.’s blueprint was because all that is transpiring there was already in train from the U.D.P.   So insofar as they have not thrown away the baby with the bathwater and maybe picked up and aggressively pursued what the U.D.P. left there and we’ve seen this on many, many fronts, not only with the Super Bond and the Blue Bond.  We see in fact many, many things that were in train that we see them taking credit for and so I will only give them credit insofar as they are doing what the U.D.P. blueprint, or maybe I shouldn’t call it blueprint, the U.D.P. red print.”
