2 Injured in Shooting on Madam Liz Avenue

Following the shooting of Dwayne Gabourel on Saturday evening, shots rang out in the vicinity of Madam Liz Avenue off Fabers Road in south side Belize City. Alex Faber and Paul Bood were targeted by a gunman around 6:25 p.m. The investigation so far has revealed that the shooting is a result of infighting among a group in the area.

“The perpetrator apparently caught them while they were in a conversation; opened fire at time and they were fortunate that their injuries were not life-threatening.”

“Sir any information as to what led to that shooting?”

“Well, our investigators have gathered so far that there might be an ongoing dispute amongst members of that entire area, people that know each other. These are the difficult ones to investigate because nobody wants to tell what’s the real reason for their attacks because obviously cooperation is not at its highest. So our investigators have our work cut out for us, but it is not something that we will leave unattended because in that area, we have law-abiding citizens that are not too comfortable with hearing gunshots ringing out so close to their homes. So hopefully we will get to the bottom of this one and try to make some arrests in that area also.”

According to ASP Yearwood, both men were grazed and have since been treated and released from the hospital.
