Cop Charged for Fatal Accident in the South
Assistant Superintendent of Police Santiago Patt has been charged in the death of B.D.F. soldier Karl Tillett. Tillett, we are told, is a resident of Gales Point who was supposed to be on quarantine having tested positive with COVID-19. But on Sunday evening, he was involved in a traffic accident when the motorcycle he was riding on crashed into ASP Patt’s vehicle. Tillett was rushed to the Southern Regional Hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Today, police formally arrested and charged the career police officer for Manslaughter by Negligence, Causing Death by Careless Conduct, Driving without due Care and Attention and Fail to Give Way When Changing Direction. Patt was arraigned in the Dangriga Magistrate Court and was granted bail.
