Tourist drowns after Blue Hole dive
Police have released details on the death of a tourist on Wednesday morning in the vicinity of Lighthouse Reef. 69 year old Edwina Hammond of Cincinnati, Ohio was finishing a dive in the great Blue Hole off the live abroad dive boat Wave Dancer when the captain, Clifton Block, noticed she was having problems. Hammond was taken aboard where CPR was administered for some 45 minutes. The rescue efforts were unsuccessful, however, and she was declared dead by a physician who happened to be part of the dive group. A postmortem conducted today by Dr. Mario Estradabran determined the cause of death as drowning.
