Deportee charged with taxi robbery

After allegedly losing his gun in a tousle with a 66 year old taxi driver Tuesday morning, 23 year old Ryan Horne was charged today with robbery, possession of an illegal firearm and handling stolen goods. Ryan is accused of hiring Lionel Tillett to take him to Neal Pen Road and then pulling a gun and taking ten dollars. When he demanded Tillett’s chain the elderly man surprised him by fighting back, taking the gun and then jumping out of the taxi. Horne drove off but was picked up about an hour later on Regent Street. The car was parked in the Brodies parking lot. Police say Horne was deported from Los Angeles, California in September of 1998 after serving time for assault with a deadly weapon.
