Cocaine Bust in Belmopan; Camalote Resident Remanded

A Camalote resident is spending his first night on remand at the Belize Central Prison after he was busted with over eleven and a half pounds of cocaine. Orlando Pascasio was intercepted with the drugs on Wednesday afternoon in Belmopan during a stop and search of his Toyota Sequoia SUV on Trinity Boulevard. Police say they discovered five rectangle-shaped parcels wrapped in transparent plastic in a bag. Pascasio was formally arrested and charged for possession of a controlled drug with the intent to supply to another. He was arraigned in the Belmopan Magistrate court today and pleaded not guilty. Bail was denied and he was remanded to the Kolbe Foundation until December twentieth, 2021. Commissioner of Police Chester Williams says that the drugs are believed to be from a wet drop in the south.

“We believe that those drugs that were found yesterday may be connected to some wet drop in the southern part of Belize and there are other persons we are looking at and other thing we are doing – I am not going to go into details now because it may jeopardize what we are trying to achieve. But yes, we did have that bust yesterday of five point three kilos of cocaine and the persons concerned should be taken to court sometime today.”
