B.T.L. to change billing system

B.T.L. will be using a new billing system beginning next month, but customers won’t see the new format until October. This morning the company presented the details of what they say will be easier for customers and the company at the Radisson Fort George Hotel.
The new Account Billing System will have B.T.L. customers receiving one bill for all the services they receive. No more will customers be swamped with three or four separate bills for the different lines they currently use.
Dionne Chamberlain, Manager, B.T.L. Public Relations
“We want to see a series of unending improvements. Not only by providing lower rates like I know is one of the cries of the Belizean people right now but we want to give better customer service and the only way we can do this is if we get their suggestions or criticism and feedback.”
The new system, which is used worldwide, was the result of suggestions put forward by customers. Dionne Chamberlain, Manager of B.T.L. Public Relations says they have received a number of concerns about the present billing system that the Account Billing will address.

“Customers were concerned first of all, the miscellaneous section on the bill was just miscellaneous and it had a group figure and customers were always wondering what it was that the miscellaneous was there for. Of course we had the different services that they did take. They bought items from our phone mart where they took up customer calling features or something like that but they were concerned that they weren’t seeing what that was for and that confused them. And they thought that we were trying to rip them off to a certain degree. Now explaining the entire miscellaneous section will allow them to see what is it they exactly bought at a glance without having to wonder or query or become negative at the onset by reading their bills.”
Customers who use more than one B.T.L. service will now be able to access these features at a lower group rate. B.T.L. will also have a better idea of who their customers are.

“One of the attractions that I would see is that first of all we would love to be able to know who our customers are, be able to offer them services, packages and all of that. We have many customers who are being represented, let’s say by their parents. If they acquired a phone by themselves and we are marketing only to the parent, we are not going towards that customer and we have services that we can provide that would meet the needs of that particular customer but maybe the parent was not interested. At the same time we will be able to bundle our services so that we can offer lowered access rate as a group rather than separating them one by one.”
Special consideration has also been given to big companies and their subsidiaries.

“Large businesses which are registered or unlimited liability companies will be facilitated if they have multiple locations and show the need for different bills to have some accounts so that they can receive separate bills.”
Since there will be only one bill that will be delivered to one location, customers who need to change ownership or the mailing address are being asked to go to B.T.L. between now and October thirty first to make the necessary changes. Customers are being advised that during this amnesty period whatever charges would have been levied for such changes will be waived.
Cellular phone accounts will not be included in the account billing until next year.
