Ground broken for new police building
Calling it a signal of the strong partnership between the United States of America and Belize, Minister of National Security Jorge Espat broke ground this morning for the new Joint Intelligence Coordinating Center in Belmopan. The Center at the National Police Headquarters will be used for intelligence gathering and regional anti-drug trafficking and anti-crime efforts. The United States is contributing two hundred and sixty thousand dollars towards the building and additional funds towards equipment, while the Belize government is providing one hundred and four thousand dollars to the project.
