Empty cash register drawers stolen from Brodies

It’s being called a burglary but it is not clear just what the thieves managed to get away with. According to Roger Reyes, general manager of the Brodies store on the Northern Highway, when the store was opened this morning, employees saw that two cash registers had been broken into and the empty cash pans removed. A preliminary inspection of the store revealed nothing unusual but a large hole was found in the warehouse ceiling. Neither the security guard on duty nor the K.B.H. security patrol saw or heard anything during the night, when the break-in occurred. Reyes says it is common practice to leave the drawers of registers being used in the daytime open at night so that if a break-in does occur, there is no damage to the register itself. However, only two of the four registers were in use yesterday and he suspects that the locked registers looked more appealing. An increase in security is being planned for the store. Reyes says although the thieves didn’t get any cash, Brodies won’t know for certain if anything else was stolen until a complete inventory is carried out.
