Suspects detained in weekend robbery
Open season on Chinese grocery stores continues. On Sunday, four men walked into Jack Lee’s Grocery Store on the corner of Pickstock Street and New Road where they ordered beer. According to Police reports, one of the men produced a gun and ordered the store’s owner, Lou Xiyuan, to hand over the key for the burglar bar door that separates customer from vendor. Once the door was open, Xiyuan was hit across the face with the gun and the men escaped with 1,300 dollars. Two men, twenty-one year old William Usher and twenty year old Albert Buckley Hines, are in police custody at this time. A gun believed to have been used in the robbery, a nine-millimeter Smith and Wesson pistol, has been recovered by police. Two other suspects remain at large.
