Steering Committee Formed for Curriculum Reform
A steering committee has been created to help develop a new curriculum for Belizean schools under a UNESCO and International Bureau of Education reform framework. According to the Ministry of Education, one of the main complaints received during recent consultations was that the current curriculum is overloaded, so a reduced version will be piloted to determine the impact on student learning, as well as student, teacher, and parent well-being. The newly constituted steering committee is comprised of Rosanna Briceño, Ray Lawrence, Dr. Mathias Vairez, Salome Tillett, Father Antonio Anderson, Dr. Priscilla Brown-Lopez, Dr. Janeen Quiroz, and Althea Jorgenson. The committee will be chaired by Dr. Louis Zabaneh and its secretariat will be led by Ms. Michelle Turton from the Quality Assurance & Development Services.
